Credit repair in general can be tricky and if you have done any research at all you know it is about timing. You have to time your disputes to different credit reporting agencies and know the law. However, just because you time your disputes in the right order, it is important to know what’s going to help you and how you can use the FCRA to your advantage.
It’s The Holidays
Let’s think about something for a second, put our human cap on and get the business thinking out of our heads. In general, what do you do around the holidays?
- Do you spend time with family?
- Do you spend more money?
- Do you apply for credit to finance gifts?
- Or maybe, Do you request time off for Thanksgiving and Christmas?
If you’re like most “humans”, you schedule your vacation in advance with your boss and you are normally off during the holidays; right? Well, you aren’t the only ones that do that “human” thing in the world.
The Mad Rush
How is the traffic in stores in October, November and December? Everybody in the world is shopping and even some do the last minute shopping a few days before.
I want you to think of something. How many people do you think apply for credit around this time of year? How many credit checks do you think will be ran through Experian, Equifax and TransUnion? Let’s just say they are swamped with work around this time of year between retail, car dealerships and credit card applications. That’s the wonderful truth, not so good for them with the workload, but great for the consumer.
The Double Whammy
As you can imagine with the combo of people taking off during the holidays and the massive amounts of credit checks, it’s highly possible that the credit bureaus will be overwhelmed. Do you really think that they have enough personnel to handle the additional workload? Even if they did, how would you feel if you had to work and couldn’t get your vacation approved? You would probably feel pretty aggravated to say the least.
Needless to say, there is a higher chance that, let’s just say “Things may get overlooked”. This is great for the consumer; it is a proven fact in my experience that I am able to get more deletions during the holidays from credit reporting agencies than normal. My advice is, write those credit dispute letters, and get them in before December 10th of every year.
