Credit Repair in Texas

Posted by: Jeremy Hudson  /  Tags: , , , ,  /  Comments: 1

Texas is one of my favorite states to provide credit repair in. Not just because I live in Texas, but because of the Statute of Limitation on Debt in Texas. The Texas statute of Limitation on debt is four years, which can be verbal, written, or contractual. Whatever the debt, there are four years in which the debtor can be forced to pay that debt. This can be a huge benefit when dealing with creditors, and collection companies.

Texas has a great Attorney General named, Gregg Abbott. Gregg Abbott’s office was able to take an Austin credit repair company to court for charging somewhere around twelve hundred dollars up front. That is absolutely crazy! Who has twelve hundred dollars just lying around? On top of that, the company’s services were misleading.

You can repair your own credit with the proper tools and knowledge. Credit repair in Texas is the same for any state; you just have to know the laws. There are some key points to be mindful of when preparing to repair your own credit.

  • Always pay your bills on time
  • Keep in constant contact with your creditors

If you get to a point where you are being harassed by a collection company, or creditor, check your state laws first. This goes right back to what I mentioned earlier. Remember, the Statute of Limitations on Debt in Texas? Well, all states have Statute of Limitation on Debt. Regarding Texas though, you can turn to three resources to help you. You can file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau (BBB), Federal Trade Commission (FTC), and Texas Attorney General, Gregg Abbott. These resources can help protect your rights, and make sure that collection companies, and the original creditors are following the state, and federal guidelines.

Always make copies of everything you receive or send. This will be used when you are disputing. Remember, if you can’t prove it, it didn’t happen. That’s just the way credit repair works and it can be brutal.

You will need to send a copy of your ID, Social Security Card and proof of your current residence. A copy of your utility bill, water bill, cable bill or cell phone bill with your address on it will help move the process along quickly.

However, you can definitely make corrections to your report yourself, and by law you have every right to do so. But, if you choose, we will take the place of you and act on your behalf. We will work with the credit bureaus, your creditors and the collection companies that are a pain in your life.

Guaranteed 700 Credit Score

Posted by: Jeremy Hudson  /  Tags: , ,

I want to touch on this topic because this is such a sensitive subject. This is a prime example of what to watch out for. Let me first start by saying, to make a statement like the one you see in the picture, is a very bold one. In order to Guarantee a specific score is the same as guaranteeing every student in school right now will graduate with honors. Every student is different, you might say, and there is no way in the world that you could possibly say that every student will graduate with honors. The exact same can be said with your individual credit report. How fair would it be for a company to raise your hopes up so high and then not deliver? How would that make you feel even if you were to get your money back? H & I Credit Solutions has achieved a 700+ score for many of our clients, but it would be very unfair if we were to say that we can do the same for everyone. It takes time and proper planning to achieve a great credit report. It doesn’t happen over night.

Guaranteed a 700 credit score

How can you guarantee something when you don’t even know what special circumstances your clients are going through? Is it fair to assume that everybody is the exact same and that everybody will get the exact same outcome? This would be great if it where true about some department stores, for example, but we all know that everyone gets treated different.

Please be careful when you see advertisements like this. You do not know if they will do something illegal and they may not even tell you!

Statute of Limitations on Debt

Posted by: Jeremy Hudson  /  Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

Just as most of consumers in the United States have had, you may have fallen on an unfortunate situation that was out of your hands & it left you with an outstanding debt that was sent to a collection agency. Six to eight months later it is bounced to another collection agency, then another, then another, and another. When & where does this cycle stop? You are left asking yourself “when is this going to end”?

Believe it or not, debts have an expiration date. If you will, kind of like expiration dates on certain food items. This expiration date is known as a “Statute of Limitations”. This opens the questions: What exactly is a Statute of Limitations? How does Statute of Limitations help me?

The Statute of Limitations of a credit report item will keep debt collectors and even the original creditor from trying to collect on the alleged debt indefinitely. Imagine, 20 years from now, you are still receiving harassing phone calls for you to pay a debt. Before you give up & agree to pay an aged debt, make sure that the Statute of Limitations on your credit report item has not expired. If the Statute of Limitations on that debt has expired, you may not ever have to pay that old debt collection.

The Statute of Limitations for collecting a debt is the time period in which a collector or creditor can utilize the court to force you to pay. This time period starts on the date of the last recorded activity on the delinquent account. Keep in mind though, the Statute of Limitations vary from state to state.

Some debt collectors and creditors will still attempt to collect a debt even when the Statute of Limitations has expired. Their mindset is, maybe the consumer (you) has no clue about the Statute of Limitations! If you do not educate yourself in your legal right, they will try to bully you into paying them. Some may even threaten you with a lawsuit.

IMPORTANT: The Statute of Limitations can start over if you make a payment (large or small), make a promise to pay, or if you agree to setup a payment plan to pay off your reported debt.

When you do any of the following listed in the “important” message you restart the clock on the Statute of Limitations for that account or collection item. This meaning, if you only had one (1) more month remaining before the Statute of Limitations is up for your collection & you are free and clear, and you agree to any of the afore mentioned, you start back at zero. You just reset the Statute of Limitations to start all over again.
